A Bookshelf is a Portal

Dedicated with love to everyone who takes the time to write wonderful stories. A few standout authors in my own life include, Writer Wasp, Marianna Tankelevich, Marian Grudko, Lainie Belcastro, Jessica Ann, Rachel Hamilton, Darya Kazakova and Mum. Your books have greatly enhanced my bookshelf and I’m so glad you’re in my life.

A bookshelf is a portal, with every book a door.

Between the coloured covers, lie a thousand worlds to explore.

You can buy a castle, with a dragon and a moat.

Then find your way to Paris on a flying billy goat.

You can kayak down the Nile, dive for treasure in the sea.

You can climb up Machu Picchu and still be home for tea.

Revolutions are exciting, but hold onto your head!

There are books you shouldn’t read, before you go to bed!

Thin books!

Thick books!

Picture books and word books!

Rabbits wearing watches, pirates wearing hooks!

Think of all the places you are bound to go.

Rivers full of chocolate, deserts full of snow!

Yes, a bookshelf is a portal, with every book a door.

Open up the pages, and feel your spirits soar!
